Synthesis of the proposed top-down surveillance approach for *Lutzomyia longipalpis*. Environmental suitability is identified at the intra-urban scale using remotely sensed data, providing a spatial framework to prioritize monitoring areas, while local factors determine fine-scale heterogeneity in vector abundance.
